Clinton Larsen has resigned as the head coach of Magesi FC effective immediately.
This decision follows Magesi’s 0-3 defeat against the All-Stars at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, marking their fourth consecutive loss across all competitions.
“Tonight marks my final match with Magesi Football Club,” Larsen mentioned during an interview on SuperSport TV.
Their recent success in the Carling Knockout Cup against Mamelodi Sundowns last month seems to have unintentionally set off a decline, as the team has failed to win since then, positioning them at the bottom of the Betway Premiership standings.
Larsen joined Magesi in January of last year when the club was competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, successfully steering them to safety.
During his first full season, Larsen achieved remarkable success with Magesi, clinching the MFC title and securing a spot in the top division.
However, he faced challenges in the premier league, reportedly dealing with internal conflicts and raising concerns over several operational aspects of the club, including its professionalism.
There are rumors that Larsen is contemplating coaching roles at either Richards Bay or Golden Arrows, both of which are currently seeking head coaches, in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal.
