The young talents of Kaizer Chiefs showcased their skills, scoring three goals in the first half to secure a commanding 3-0 victory over Magesi FC at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Naledi Hlongwane opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a left-footed shot, beautifully assisted by his teammate Samkelo Zwane.
Just ten minutes later, Zwane transitioned from provider to scorer. After receiving a pass from Ashley Du Preez, he skillfully placed the ball into the net, widening the All-Stars’ lead.
A minute later, Hlongwane found the net again, achieving his second goal and bringing the score to 3-0 with another left-footed effort, capitalizing on a pass from Mbekezeli Mbokani. His goal was celebrated with an exuberant summersault.
Despite Magesi’s difficulties in countering the onslaught, Edmore Chirambandare came close to scoring but his shot rebounded off the crossbar.
In the second half, Magesi aimed to recover. Wonderboy Makhubu tested the reflexes of Sipho Chaine, the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain of the All-Stars, but Chaine successfully met the challenge.
Following some player substitutions, including Relebohile Mofokeng, the All-Stars’ tempo slowed down with Thembinkosi Lorch and Patric Maswanganyi entering the fray. However, the match remained engaging.
Lorch attempted a spectacular shot from the center circle, striking the crossbar and forcing Magesi goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze to react quickly.
This victory marks another significant accomplishment for the All-Stars, continuing their success against Stellenbosch last season. Fans voted Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro as a standout, as he has now guided the All-Stars to victories in both of his matches.
Magesi remains in a precarious situation, still searching for a win since their Carling Knockout Cup triumph over Sundowns last month. This defeat signifies their fourth consecutive loss across all competitions, placing them at the bottom of the Betway Premiership standings.
