Exploring Brentford’s Impressive Home Winning Streak: Poised to Challenge Chelsea’s Double-Winning Record

THOMAS FRANK is embracing Brentford’s status as the Premier League’s most entertaining home side.

The Bees manager stated: “We aim to be even MORE attacking at our home ground.”

Supporters at the Gtech Community Stadium have enjoyed a remarkable 40 GOALS during the first eight Premier League matches, just ahead of today’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

If this trend persists, the average of five goals per game could eclipse the record of 82 goals set by Chelsea in their double-winning season of 2009-10.

Should this pattern continue, the total at Gtech could near 100 goals — a scenario that thrills Frank.

The 51-year-old stated: “That would be quite a story, wouldn’t it?

“It may be slightly tied to us being a bit too open, who knows. But I want us to be as attacking as possible.

“We did this in the Championship. During the two years before our promotion, we were the highest scorers.

“When I mention wanting a touch more control in games, it’s really about discovering whether we can get into positions to play the ball behind, circulate it, or initiate counter-attacks.

“Still, I favor exciting and open matches. This generates opportunities for us, allowing us to make the most of the incredible players we’ve integrated into our squad over the last four years.”

“This has positioned us for this opportunity now. The club’s framework enables us to pursue a more aggressive tactic.”

Frank emphasizes the impact of Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade, and the prolific pair up front, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, as representatives of a philosophy he has maintained since his early days.

He continued: “I’ve always been deeply engaged with the sport, and for a long time, I’ve leaned towards more offensive football.

“I’ve often drawn inspiration from the Ajax team, the idea of total football, and naturally, there was Barcelona, Johan Cruyff’s initial Dream Team — which notably featured Michael Laudrup, another Danish player, at its center.

“Watching them play was incredible. Moreover, Pep took them to new heights.

“The first coach who significantly inspired me was Morten Olsen, who managed Denmark for 15 years before taking charge of Cologne and Ajax.

“Primarily, I admired him because he was Danish and part of the national setup.

“Though he was a center-back, he had an attacking mindset, often pushing forward through channels himself.

“He was innovative in creating the 4-2-3-1 system with very effective wingers.

“He was ahead of his time in numerous ways and significantly influenced me.

“I’ve also looked up to what Jurgen Klopp has accomplished at Liverpool.

“They have become one of the most challenging teams to face defensively, always attacking from various angles.

“Additionally, I admired Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. Their play featuring Bergkamp, Henry, Ljungberg, and Pires was simply fantastic.

“All of these experiences have shaped my own distinct blueprint.”

Frank is also noted for being one of the league’s most animated figures on the sidelines, a whirlwind in the dugout, fervently connecting with Brentford fans.

His ultimate goal is excitement, though he recognizes this approach may not always lead to the best outcomes.

‘We prioritize entertainment’

Frank stated: “Ideally, a team can be both exciting and successful at the same time.

“Ultimately, winning is the most important aspect, without question. That’s the primary consideration.

“So, we’ve been carefully assessing this. Are we too open? Is that the reason we’re conceding too many goals? Do we need to make slight adjustments?

“I don’t think achieving great things is possible without also being quite solid defensively.

“We learned this from Liverpool when they won the league. Despite facing challenges, signing Alisson and Van Dijk gave them one of the league’s best defenses.

“Similarly, City and Arsenal have made related maneuvers at times, which is essential.

“Still, we aim to be entertaining whenever possible. There have been many matches where we score but then quickly concede, scoring and conceding back and forth.

“However, we’ve displayed the ability to respond by regaining control in those games.

“I’d welcome more matches like the Leicester match, where we’re ahead 4-1; that would make me much more relaxed on the sidelines.

“However, we acknowledge we are up against strong teams.”
