Darts player Romeo Grbavac extended his apologies to Raymond van Barneveld on Wednesday due to a confusion over his entrance music.
During his World Championship debut at Alexandra Palace, Grbavac shocked the crowd by stepping onto the stage to the tune of ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor.
The hit song has long been linked to Dutch legend Van Barneveld, which made Grbavac’s selection quite controversial.
A commentator noted the odd circumstance, saying: “Is Raymond van Barneveld watching?
“Because someone has used your walk-out track! Oh my goodness!”
Grbavac’s debut ended with a 3-0 defeat against Callan Rydz.
After the match, he contacted Van Barneveld to clarify that the use of the same song was accidental.
Apparently, there was a mix-up with the staff backstage at Ally Pally.
Barney shared a message from Grbavac on X to clear up any confusion.
It read: “Hello Barney. I didn’t choose this song, and I have no clue why they played it!”
