According to Sportswire, striker Siyethemba Sithebe is facing increasing difficulties at Richards Bay, as the club has purportedly issued him a termination notice.
Sithebe was suspended earlier this month following a verbal altercation with the coaching team after a loss to SuperSport United. Although he did not take part in the match, his entry into the dressing room post-game led to the incident.
This suspension caused him to miss the recent 1-0 victory against Golden Arrows last weekend. However, the situation has escalated, leading the club to initiate proceedings for a separation.
Efforts to reach out to Sithebe’s agent, Musa Sithebe, have been unsuccessful.
Sithebe joined Richards Bay at the start of the current season after being released by Kaizer Chiefs. In his brief stint with the Natal Rich Boys, he has made a total of eight appearances across different competitions.
His tenure at Chiefs was not particularly fruitful, making 39 appearances and contributing 10 assists over two seasons. Before that, he left AmaZulu under controversial circumstances, having been banned for signing a pre-contract with Amakhosi.
Sithebe was a key player for AmaZulu during their remarkable 2020/21 season under Benni McCarthy, where he formed a solid partnership with Makhahleni Makhaula. McCarthy commended his ability to win second balls and positively influence the game.
Throughout his PSL career, Sithebe has made 183 appearances, scoring nine goals and assisting nine times. Remarkably, he has never been sent off but has encountered two suspensions.
