AMAD DIALLO exited Manchester City in astonishment after dramatically changing the result of the derby.
The energetic winger won a penalty that Bruno Fernandes converted in the dying moments, leveling the score.
However, the best was yet to come as Amad expertly navigated past a charging Ederson and, from a tight angle, finished with precision in stoppage time to clinch a thrilling win.
Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis evaluated the performances of the Man Utd players…
Andre Onana – 6
He doesn’t inspire confidence. Struggles to assert himself in the box, and as seen in the midweek match against Plzen, his distribution from the back often aids the opponent’s attack.
Luckily, he wasn’t put under much pressure during the match.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
Shows a calmer demeanor under Amorim compared to when he was eager to embody the ‘Butcher of Amsterdam’ persona from Ajax.
Delivered an excellent through ball late in the game that assisted Amad’s winning goal.
Harry Maguire – 8
Had an outstanding duel with Erling Haaland, coming out on top.
Including the former captain for such a pivotal match proved to be the right choice, as he fit seamlessly into the central role of the back three.
Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7
Overall, a solid showing. He appeared more comfortable alongside Maguire than with previous center-back partners.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Miscalculated his jump, allowing Josko Gvardiol to score the opener for City. He failed to make a significant impact going forward in his wing-back role.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Missed a vital chance after being set up by Hojlund, shooting wide. However, when called upon for the penalty, he exhibited calmness under pressure, sending Ederson the wrong way to equalize.
Manuel Ugarte – 7
Stationed in front of the back four, he effectively neutralized much of Phil Foden’s attempts for the home side.
Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8
The standout performer among the summer signings. He played as the right wing-back this time and adapted well to the game’s demands. One of United’s key players.
Mason Mount 13′ – 6
Looked visibly upset upon leaving the pitch early. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had much luck with injuries and is yet to enjoy a consistent run since joining the club.
Amad Diallo 90′ – 9
A career-defining moment with a stunning derby-winning goal. He made a fantastic run to connect with Martinez’s pass, followed by a subtle touch past Ederson; although slightly mishit, it found the back of the net.
He almost equalized earlier with a flick header, expertly saved by Ederson.
Displayed quick thinking to intercept Nunes’ back pass, leading to a penalty that allowed United to equalize.
Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6
Notable for an encounter with Walker, which resulted in the City player falling, as well as a minor tumble while trying to win a penalty.
Nonetheless, he produced an excellent through ball to Fernandes that should have led to the equalizer.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6
Performed admirably, stepping into a deeper role as Fernandes advanced up the field.
Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6
Not exactly a game-changer, but he did well to keep possession in the final moments.
Antony 78′ – 6
Substituted on with hopes of making a difference but seems to be low on confidence due to limited playing time.
Leny Yoro 78′ – 6
Gradually returning to full fitness after a summer injury.
Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6
No chance to influence the match during his brief appearance.
