DIMITRI VAN DEN BERGH has discussed the difficulties he faced in the lead-up to the PDC World Championship.
The much-anticipated tournament kicked off on Sunday evening and has already produced some unforgettable highlights.
Christian Fisk achieved the first nine-darter of the tournament, winning £60,000 each for himself and a fan.
For Van den Bergh, the World Championships could have felt like a daunting endeavor.
The Belgian star entered as the No.11 seed, boasting a solid ranking.
However, he admitted that he and many others have found the past year “overwhelming”.
In an interview with HLN, he stated: “Over the past year and a half, I have been competing without a break.
“It was the first time in my career that I had to withdraw from a few events.
“I’m not alone in this situation; it has become too much for many of us.
“Things are getting increasingly hectic.”

Huybrechts lost to Keane Barry, while De Decker was eliminated by Luke Woodhouse.
Despite being a regular at PDC events, Van den Bergh acknowledges that he has changed from his younger self.
He expressed: “The Dimitri of the past is no longer the same as the Dmitri of today.
“I now lead a different lifestyle. I have a family and a wonderful daughter; we share a home, and I’ve secured a new sponsorship.
“Plus, I’ve gained a few pounds.”
Van den Bergh is scheduled to compete on Sunday evening against the winner of the match between William O’Connor and Dylan Slevin.
