Ex-SuperSport United striker Prince Dube scored a hat trick for Sead Ramovic’s Young Africans, leading them to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Mashujaa in the Tanzanian Premier League on Thursday.
Dube opened the scoring in the eighth minute and then added another goal in the 22nd minute. The opposition found the net during first-half stoppage time, but the Zimbabwean international completed his hat trick just eight minutes into the second half.
Defender Idrisa Stambuli narrowed the deficit to 3-2 in the 62nd minute, which only provided a brief moment of hope as tensions rose for the German coach, who has made a notable impact at the ambitious Tanzanian club.

Dube, fondly called Mgadafi, gained recognition in 2017 by demonstrating his skills for Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup and CHAN qualifiers. His outstanding performances caught the eye of Matsatsantsa, where he eventually helped secure the 2017/18 MTN8 title, despite limited game time and a loan to Black Leopards.
Meanwhile, Yanga has climbed to third position with 30 points, closing in on league leaders Azam FC and their fierce rivals Simba SC, who sit at 31 points after defeating Ken Gold 2-0 on Wednesday.
Azam continues to lead the table with 33 points, albeit having played three more matches than the two powerhouses from Dar es Salaam, who are also managing commitments in both domestic and CAF interclub competitions.
On a different note, the former TS Galaxy coach is keen to carry their domestic achievements into the CAF Champions League, where his tenure has been marked by significant challenges, as they currently find themselves at the bottom of Group A. Young Africans have yet to clinch a victory in Africa’s premier club tournament, having lost to Al Hilal Omdurman and MC Alger, each by a score of 2-0, before securing a last-minute equalizer against TP Mazembe, thanks to Dube, who now has four goals in the competition.
