Freddie Flintoff Chooses His 16-Year-Old Son Rocky for England Lions Tour Amidst His Inspiring Journey

At only 16 years of age, ROCKY FLINTOFF has been chosen for the England Lions squad, a decision influenced by his father.

Flintoff’s son is part of the 16-player roster for the Lions’ tour of Australia next month, with Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff acting as head coach.

This represents a significant milestone for Rocky, who just made his first-class debut for Lancashire this summer and is now set to join England’s second team.

The Lions are set to engage in three four-day matches, including a ‘Test’ match against Australia in Sydney.

This will be Rocky’s first experience facing the Australians. His father played a crucial role in England’s historic 2005 Ashes victory and earned the title of Sports Personality of the Year.

While it may appear ambitious for Rocky to be in contention for next winter’s Ashes, one must consider that with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum at the helm, anything is possible.

Despite having an average of merely 12.42 in the four first-class games he played for Lancashire, he achieved a century for the county’s second XI and also scored a hundred for the England under-19s against Sri Lanka.

Earlier this month, he joined the England under-19s in South Africa and participated in a Lions match against a South Africa XI, where he only scored four runs.

Following a near-fatal car accident while filming for Top Gear, ‘Freddie’ Flintoff has returned to the public eye, supporting the England senior team in 2023.

Now, he balances coaching the Lions with various television commitments, including hosting a revival of Bullseye, the darts quiz show.

Flintoff’s coaching staff includes Graeme Swann, who will mentor Shoaib Bashir as he acclimates to Australian conditions in preparation for next winter’s Ashes.

ECB performance director Ed Barney commented: “This tour allows us to evaluate performances, improve our preparations, and continue nurturing some of the best emerging talents in the nation.”

Darts champion Luke Littler will join Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff as the special guest on the Bullseye revival
