AMAD DIALLO left Manchester City astonished by turning the derby on its head.
The nimble winger earned a penalty in the dying moments, which Bruno Fernandes successfully converted to level things up.
But the best was still to come as Amad skillfully flicked the ball past an advancing Ederson before slotting in a breathtaking winner from a tight angle deep into stoppage time.
Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis evaluated the Man Utd players…
Andre Onana – 6
He does not instill much confidence. Fails to assert himself in his area, and as seen midweek in Plzen, his distribution often aids the opposition.
He wasn’t particularly tested in this match.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
Comes across as a more composed presence under Amorim compared to when he attempted to live up to his Ajax nickname, ‘The Butcher of Amsterdam’.
Delivered an excellent through ball to set up Amad’s winning goal.
Harry Maguire – 8
Was engaged in a tough contest with Erling Haaland, which he won decisively.
The right choice to bring back the former captain for such an important match. He seems to thrive in the center of that back three.
Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7
Provided a solid performance. Looked more at ease next to Maguire than with his other center-back partners.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Misjudged his jump, allowing Josko Gvardiol to score the opening goal for City. Did not contribute enough creativity going forward from his wing-back role.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Missed a significant opportunity after being set up by Hojlund, clipping the ball wide.
However, when it came to the penalty, he showed composure and sent Ederson the wrong way to equalize.
Manuel Ugarte – 7
Played a defensive role in front of the back four and disrupted much of what Phil Foden tried to create for the home side.
Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8
Proved to be the standout summer signing, utilized as the right wing-back this time and adaptable to different roles. One of United’s best performers of the day.
Mason Mount 13′ – 6
Seemed almost in tears when he had to exit the field early in the match. He’s dealing with injuries and hasn’t had a proper run since his arrival at the club.
Amad Diallo 90′ – 9
Achieved the most remarkable moment of his career thus far with a memorable derby-winning goal. Made a brilliant run to connect with Martinez’s pass, flicked the ball past Ederson, and although it wasn’t perfectly executed, it hit the target.
Almost netted an equalizer with a flick header that Ederson managed to save.
Also demonstrated alertness to win the penalty that led to United’s equalizer.
Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6
Much of his contribution was noted during an individual battle with Walker, who ended up on the ground, and a slight tumble of his own while seeking a penalty.
Later provided a great through ball for Fernandes that should have created an equalizer.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6
Performed solidly after coming on in a deeper role than Mount, allowing Fernandes to move forward.
Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6
Not a game-changer, but effectively maintained possession in the closing minutes.
Antony 78′ – 6
Entered the game hoping to make a difference but struggled with a lack of confidence due to limited starting opportunities.
Leny Yoro 78′ – 6
Gradually returning to full fitness after a summer injury.
Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6
No opportunity to influence the match during his limited time on the field.
