AMAD DIALLO left Manchester City stunned as he turned the derby around.
The speedy winger earned a penalty, which was skillfully converted by Bruno Fernandes in the dying moments, leveling the score.
The standout moment came when Amad deftly flicked the ball past a charging Ederson and expertly slotted in a dramatic winner from a tight angle deep into stoppage time.
Here’s how SunSport’s Neil Custis rated the Manchester United players…
Andre Onana – 6
He struggles to inspire confidence. His command of the area is insufficient, and, as seen earlier this week in Plzen, his distribution often aids the opposition.
Nonetheless, he was not put to the test often.
Lisandro Martinez – 7
Exhibited a calmer demeanor under Amorim than before when he embodied his Ajax nickname ‘The Butcher of Amsterdam’.
Delivered a brilliant through ball at the end to assist Amad’s winning goal.
Harry Maguire – 8
Engaged in an excellent duel with Erling Haaland, which the United defender emerged victorious from.
The decision to include the former captain for such a pivotal match proved to be astute. He appears well-suited to a central role in that back three.
Matthijs de Ligt 78′ – 7
Put in a solid performance. He seemed more comfortable playing alongside Maguire compared to other center-back pairings.
Diogo Dalot – 5
Failed to time his jump properly, allowing Josko Gvardiol to head the ball for City’s first goal. Did not contribute enough going forward as a wing-back.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Missed a crucial chance after being sent through by Hojlund, sending the ball wide.
However, when awarded a penalty, he displayed remarkable composure, sending Ederson the wrong way to equalize.
Manuel Ugarte – 7
Positioned himself well in front of the back four, effectively countering much of Phil Foden’s influence for City.
Noussair Mazraoui 78′ – 8
Stood out among the summer signings. Played as the right wing-back this time and demonstrated his versatility across various roles. One of United’s top performers that match.
Mason Mount 13′ – 6
Looked near tears after his early exit from the game. He has been plagued by ongoing injury issues and has yet to find consistent form since his arrival at the club.
Amad Diallo 90′ – 9
Scored the most memorable goal of his career so far with a stunning derby winner. He made a brilliant run to meet Martinez’s pass, chipped it over Ederson, and while the finish was slightly scuffed, it still went in.
He was close to scoring earlier with a flicked header that Ederson saved well.
He was also quick to capitalize on Nunes’ back pass, which led to the penalty that resulted in United’s equalizer.
Rasmus Hojlund 78′ – 6
Much of his involvement consisted of a head-to-head clash with Walker and a slight fall while trying to win a penalty.
However, he made a superb pass to Fernandes, which should have resulted in an equalizer.
Subs
Kobbie Mainoo 13′ – 6
Performed admirably in a deeper role after stepping in for Mount, providing support as Fernandes advanced.
Joshua Zirkzee 78′ – 6
Not a game-changer, but skillfully maintained possession in the final minutes.
Antony 78′ – 6
Attempted to have an impact but seemed to lack confidence due to limited game time.
Leny Yoro 78′ – 6
Continuing to work towards full fitness following his injury earlier in the summer.
Victor Lindelof 90′ – 6
No opportunity to make a notable impact on the match.
