SKY executives are actively looking to recruit Rebecca Lowe as they plan for the change following Kelly Cates’ exit.
Cates is expected to join the BBC in a restructured presenting team for Match of the Day.
Sky executives are reportedly concerned about losing Cates, who is set to leave her position at the end of the season.
Nonetheless, insiders at SunSport indicate that producers are already planning ahead.
They have identified Lowe, a prominent NBC presenter in the US, as a potential candidate to succeed Cates.
Lowe, who has a background as a BBC journalist, is highly regarded in the industry, and Sky believes she might find the chance to lead their football coverage appealing.
Furthermore, she has a close friendship with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, with whom she started a podcast last year.
The podcast, named “It’s Called Soccer,” features Lowe discussing various football topics with Neville and Carragher.
In a recent passionate statement, she shared her views on Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr deciding to skip the Ballon D’Or ceremony, describing his actions as “unbelievably classless.”
Neville agreed with Lowe, placing some blame on Real Madrid for the club’s sense of entitlement and attitude.
