CHELSEA’s Marc Cucurella was shown a red card after the Premier League match against Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old was integral to the Blues’ 2-1 win over the Bees, contributing the opening goal, while Nicolas Jackson secured the victory, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring a late consolation for the home side.
However, the full-back was handed a second yellow card after the game concluded due to an altercation with Kevin Schade, where he shoved his opponent.
Schade was also penalized for the altercation by the referee.
The Premier League confirmed that both players faced disciplinary action for “demonstrating an aggressive attitude.”
An announcement stated: “The referee issued a second yellow card to Cucurella for showing an aggressive demeanor. Schade received a similar booking for the same reason.”
This means the Spain international will be unavailable for the Premier League encounter against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Manager Enzo Maresca remarked that the incident underscored areas where Chelsea needs to “enhance.”
Following the match, he commented: “I did not see the second yellow card. The referee indicated it was given for a bad attitude. There are things we can improve upon.”
This incident marks the second consecutive league match where Cucurella has drawn attention.

Chelsea ratings vs Brentford as Caicedo oversees midfield while goalscorer Cucurella falters

CHELSEA closed the gap at the top of the table with a 2-1 win in the West London derby against Brentford.
Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson were on the score sheet for the Blues, leaving them just two points off Liverpool.
Here’s how SunSport’s Andy Dillon evaluated the performances of Chelsea’s players…
Robert Sanchez – 7
Occasionally prone to errors but also capable of making vital saves; he executed several key stops this evening. One of his more notable outings.
Malo Gusto – 7
Consistently impressive, demonstrating both physical and mental tenacity for the team. Chelsea hardly miss captain Reece James in this moment.
Levi Colwill – 7
Made a crucial block to prevent Damsgaard, reminiscent of Chelsea legend John Terry. A solid performance overall.
Tosin Adarabioyo – 6
Provided a strong presence, especially after also playing in frigid conditions in Kazakhstan on Thursday. With defenders Badiashile and Fofana injured, he performed admirably.
Marc Cucurella – 4
A great run and header led to the opening goal but tarnished his contributions with poor decisions during the game.
He then carelessly received two yellow cards in quick succession, resulting in his dismissal.
Moises Caicedo – 8
Showed outstanding tackling and effectively controlled the midfield. Chelsea maintained possession largely thanks to his influence.
Enzo Fernandez – 7
Appeared composed and delivered several precise through balls connecting midfield to attack.
Noni Madueke – 6
Provided an excellent left-footed cross that set up Cucurella’s goal. Showed skill but was also caught off guard on occasion.
Cole Palmer – 6
Had a strong effort saved in the first half but otherwise had a quiet evening.
Jadon Sancho – 6
Gradually reclaiming his spot in the first team after a previous dip in form.
Displayed nimble footwork in the second half that almost led to a decisive goal.
Nicolas Jackson – 7
Executed a wonderful finish for the match-winning goal, although he squandered a clear opportunity in the first half.
A pivotal strike that helps Chelsea maintain their winning streak.

Christopher Nkunku (for Jackson, 83 mins) – 5
Did not have sufficient opportunity to influence the game; Chelsea faced pressure during the concluding stages.
This incident led Cucurella to rush to the bench to swap boots, which proved effective as he played a significant part in securing a dramatic 4-3 win.
The Spaniard took the situation in stride, discarding his defective Puma boots and posting a picture on social media as an apology to fans.
The football boots were scheduled for release by the brand the following day.
Notably, they included an engraving stating: “This boot might be leaked. We’re used to it. Don’t worry. Stay tuned.”
This seemed to be a miscalculation in marketing, but Puma responded with creativity.
In a new advertisement on social media, Cucurella is shown wearing the boots next to a wet floor caution sign.
Puma captioned the post: “It’s not about how you slip; it’s about how you recover.”
The post contained images of the wet floor sign placed in various locations, including before a goal, outside a Puma store, at a bus stop, and along a street in West London.
