RUSS BRAY, a well-known darts referee, highlights that MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has not yet reached his full potential despite his remarkable abilities.
The Green Machine is a multiple-time world champion, having claimed an abundance of titles in the sport.
In spite of his remarkable accomplishments, Bray feels that Van Gerwen’s extraordinary talent deserves even greater recognition.
Ladbrokes ambassador Bray stated, via the Express: “From my perspective, Michael van Gerwen has yet to achieve all that he could.
“Yes, he’s won three world titles among many others. However, I believe he could have significantly exceeded that number. I’m not talking about just a few more trophies; it’s a much larger figure.
“For example, he lost in the UK Open final a couple of years back to Andrew Gilding.
“I intend no disrespect to Gilding, but under normal circumstances, Michael would likely win that match nine times out of ten. That’s yet another championship that slipped from his grasp. Therefore, it is fair to state that Michael has not fully achieved his potential.”
In addition to his three world championships, Van Gerwen has been a cornerstone in the Premier League throughout recent years.
He won the Premier League title seven times from 2013 to 2023, competing against the top players globally.
The Dutch champion also holds six Grand Prix titles, three Grand Slams, and three World Matchplays.
