A PREVIOUS boxing rival of John Fury has passed away at the age of 69.
Neil Malpass emerged victorious over Fury in a 10-round heavyweight contest in 1989, securing the Central Area title.
Malpass participated in 48 fights throughout his professional career, which spanned from 1977 to 1990.
His win over Fury made him one of just four fighters to defeat Tyson’s father, and he remains the only one to have fought the now 59-year-old in a title match.
After retiring from boxing, Malpass transitioned to a coaching role.
