RASMUS HOJLUND drew inspiration from Anthony Martial’s recent challenges at Manchester United as he secured the crucial goal in the match against Viktoria Plzen.
The Danish striker netted two goals in the second half, helping the Red Devils clinch a 2-1 triumph in their Europa League clash against the Czech team.
Hojlund’s second goal was a remarkable exhibition of skill as the 21-year-old skillfully controlled a low free-kick from Bruno Fernandes in the box before directing the ball into the far corner.
The Danish international positioned himself expertly to collect the ball, reminiscent of Martial’s effort during the Manchester derby back in March 2020.
He commented to TNT Sports: “I’ve seen Bruno [Fernandes] execute that move before.
“I recalled the goal by Anthony Martial, when he scored with a chip from that position.
“I believed I had a good opportunity because I can effectively push off the defender, turn, and finish.”
With this victory in Plzen, United rebounded after two consecutive defeats to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Nonetheless, the Red Devils still have areas to improve under their new manager Ruben Amorim.
The 39-year-old stated in his post-match remarks: “We need more time. It’s still quite early in the process.

“We are working on synchronizing our routines, and we are making progress.
“Nevertheless, it still requires more practice and time.

“It might seem unusual, but we do not have adequate training time, so we have to refine our skills during games.
“Still, things are steadily improving.”
Next up for Manchester United is a match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
