Williams is distinguished as the only nominee based in Africa, highlighting his exceptional contributions to both Sundowns and Bafana Bafana. The CAF encountered difficulties in narrowing down the nominees to three because of intense competition and tied votes.
The winner will be announced on December 16 in Morocco, where all nominees are anticipated to be present.
For the women’s category, the shortlisted candidates include Sanaa Mssoudy (Morocco), Chiamaka Nnandoze (Nigeria), and Barbara Banda (Zambia).

Additionally, he was nominated for the Yachine’s Ballon d’Or trophy, acknowledging him as one of the best goalkeepers globally, although he ultimately lost out to Emiliano Martinez from Argentina and Aston Villa.
