Following the foul by Van de Beek, a penalty was awarded to Diaz.

The midfielder’s awkward challenge resulted in him stepping on the back of Diaz’s left foot, dislodging the boot as the Colombian fell to the ground.

Despite losing his boot, Diaz attempted a shot but struggled to maintain his balance, hindered by the lack of traction from wearing only a sock.

Salah expertly slotted home the penalty, raising his tally for the season to 15 goals.

Liverpool continued their flawless campaign in the Champions League with six wins out of six matches.

Supporters had a field day poking fun at Van de Beek’s mistake, with one remarking: “Man Utd flop forever costing clubs😭😭”

Another added: “You can take a man out of Manchester, but you can never take the Manchester United out of him.”
