GOUT GOUT’S furious father has revealed that the sprinting sensation has been called by the wrong name for years due to a shocking spelling error.
The parents of the 16-year-old “next Usain Bolt” have held officials responsible for the “unacceptable” mistake, explaining what his proper name should be.
Gout Gout has broken numerous age records in both the 100m and 200m events.
He clocked a time of 20.04 seconds in the longer race, surpassing the Australian record that had been held since Peter Norman’s silver medal win at the 1968 Olympics.
However, his father Bona has shared his frustration over a significant error that has led to his son being named incorrectly.
The confusion began when the family fled South Sudan as refugees and arrived in Egypt.
Bona told Channel 7 that they originally planned to settle in Canada.
However, they received documents from the Australian Government first, which caused them to change their plans and move to Australia instead.
Bona believes the Sudanese Government mistakenly recorded “Gout Gout” on the official documents.
He remarked: “His name is Guot; it should be Guot.”

“When I see people referring to him as Gout Gout, it doesn’t please me.”
He stressed that it should be pronounced “gwot.”

Bona pointed out the inflammatory condition gout, which can cause foot pain and swelling.
He said: “I understand that gout is a disease, but I don’t want my son to carry a name linked to an illness… This is simply unacceptable.
“The name holds important cultural significance; especially for family members who link the name Guot Guot to their identity. When they hear Gout Gout, that connection is lost.”
Bona is now hoping for his son’s name to be officially corrected to Guot.
