Just days following his exit from Richards Bay, Brandon Truter has landed a new role.
He has been named the head coach of Upington City, which competes in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Truter is making a comeback to Upington, a club he departed from at the conclusion of the off-season to take a position with Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal.
He succeeds Thulani Nkosi after a streak of recent defeats for Upington in the second-tier league.
“As we bid farewell to Coach Nkosi, we are pleased to announce that Coach Brandon Truter will step in as the new Head Coach of Upington City FC, effective immediately,” the club declared in their announcement.
“Coach Truter is returning to a club where he has previously achieved great success as the senior coach, and his expertise and understanding of the team will be vital as he leads the players and staff through this period of transition.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Truter back to Upington City FC. His appointment signifies a substantial boost for the team, and we are hopeful about his capacity to guide us to triumph.”
At present, Upington is ranked 11th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, having gathered 16 points from 13 matches, including a recent 3-1 defeat at home to Kruger United from Mpumalanga on Sunday.
Truter’s first match as Upington’s head coach will be against Hungry Lions at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberly on Friday at 15:30.
