He and his legal counsel at a tax tribunal sought to preserve his anonymity, alleging he was assured that the scheme had the backing of tax authorities.
After his name was made public in court documents yesterday, Dettori, 53, remarked that he is “working to untangle the issues I have encountered.”
He originally launched a legal case against HMRC after they disallowed him certain deductions for income tax.
Judges had previously decided that his identity could stay confidential, but the media and HMRC challenged this anonymity ruling.

Following the removal of the anonymity order, the Italian commented: “A few years ago, I enlisted professional tax advisors to oversee my and my family’s financial affairs.
“A structure was implemented, and I was guaranteed that it had received HMRC validation.”
He added: “I have since terminated my relationship with my former advisors.”
HMRC stated: “We welcome this decision, as it signifies an important victory for the principle of open justice.”
