A source revealed to The Sun on Sunday: “He is in serious condition.

“He is conscious and able to communicate, but everyone at the club is extremely worried. We are all just hoping he pulls through.”

Witnesses described grey smoke billowing as the car crashed in Theydon Bois, close to the home of West Ham owner David Sullivan.

One bystander commented: “Several other vehicles stopped, and people were on their phones contacting emergency services.

“The weather was terrible, with rain and wind making the roads very slippery. It didn’t seem like another car was involved.

“It looked like it had spun out of control.

“I only realized later who he was. I hope he’s okay.”

A driver passing by stated: “The right wing was torn off, along with the driver’s door and front wheel.

“I noticed firefighters had to cut parts of the car away to extract him. He appeared to have some facial injuries.”

Another source mentioned that the footballer’s legs were reportedly “shattered” in the crash.

Disturbing images from the scene reveal the aftermath of the collision.

Michail’s silver Ferrari was left on the roadside surrounded by foliage.

There was significant damage to the front and driver’s side, with the windshield severely crumpled.
