Pauls Bentley R1
Without hesitation, they step into the ring, both eager to compete as they take their positions in the squared circle.
We will soon discover whether Pauls has progressed further since winning the British title from Nathan Heaney in July, as he faces a two-time former champion who appears to be regaining his form and is considered the technically superior boxer on paper.
It will be interesting to see if the champion’s fan support influences the judges during the more strategic rounds like this opening one—Bentley works to shorten the distance while Pauls, still assessing the situation, cautiously avoids the jab.
Pauls lands a partially successful right, and both finish with crowd-appealing shots to wrap up a competitive round, but I give the slight advantage to Bentley.
