On Friday, Orlando Pirates confirmed that tickets for their highly anticipated CAF Champions League match against Al Ahly, scheduled at Orlando Stadium on Saturday at 15:00, have completely sold out.
The Pirates intend to take advantage of the sweltering South African weather, as Al Ahly typically plays their games at night. Historically, Al Ahly has struggled to adapt to the elevated conditions in South Africa, having suffered substantial defeats from Mamelodi Sundowns in daytime matches.
This encounter marks the second group stage match between these two clubs. Last week, Pirates secured a 2-1 victory against CR Belouizdad in Algeria, while Al Ahly, the defending champions, won against Stade Abidjan, finishing 4-2 at home.
The last clash between Pirates and Al Ahly in the Champions League took place in 2013, where Al Ahly emerged victorious, winning the second leg final 2-0 in Cairo after drawing 1-1 in the first leg at Orlando Stadium.
