Khanyisa Mayo’s CR Belouizdad took advantage of the draw between Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly at Orlando Stadium, securing a crucial 1-0 victory against Stade d’Abidjan in their CAF Champions League Group C match at Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.
Aymen Mahious scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute, propelling the Algerian side to third place in the group with three points.
Previously, Pirates had defeated Belouizdad 2-1 in their opening match, while the current champions Al Ahly bested d’Abidjan 4-2.
Currently, Al Ahly leads Group C with four points, with Pirates also having four points, placed second due to an inferior goal difference.
Both teams are scheduled to continue their matches in the coming weeks, with Pirates visiting Ivory Coast to face d’Abidjan on 14 December. Al Ahly will host Belouizdad on 22 December for their third fixture of the group stage.
