Rules and Format of Snooker Shoot Out 2024

The Snooker Shoot Out is known for its unique format that pits players against a ticking clock.

Matches have a maximum duration of 10 minutes, with a 15-second shot clock in the first half and a 10-second shot clock in the second half.

Important rules include:

  • Each frame is limited to a maximum time of 10 minutes.
  • The shot clock is enforced to avoid time wastage.
  • During the first five minutes, players have 15 seconds per shot.
  • In the final five minutes, the shot clock reduces to 10 seconds per shot.
  • Players incur a five-point penalty (or the value of the pink or black if attempted) for failing to make a shot in time.
  • Every shot must either hit a cushion or pot a ball.
  • Failing to follow these rules allows the opponent to take control of the ball.
  • Players start the game by “lagging,” using the white ball from the baulk line against the top cushion.
  • The player who gets closest to the baulk cushion wins the lag.
  • If matches end in a tie, a shoot-out with the blue ball takes place, with players trying to pot the blue from its spot into a top pocket.
  • Flukes do not count on the deciding blue shot.
