
KEELY HODGKINSON recounted her memorable moment with Sir Alex Ferguson during a Manchester United game in September.
The 800m Olympic gold medalist had the privilege of being a special VIP guest as the Red Devils faced off against Tottenham.

Before the match, United fan Hodgkinson was welcomed like a hero at Old Trafford, where she displayed her gold medal to the crowd.
Despite the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat, the talented athlete had the chance to meet a delighted Sir Alex Ferguson post-match.
The pair shared smiles as they posed for a photograph together.
Fast forward two months, and Hodgkinson has spoken about their interaction.
Speaking with the Mail, the Atherton star shared: “It was amazing to be recognized by my lifelong team.”
“Meeting Sir Alex Ferguson was a surreal experience. He was very friendly and engaging.”
Regarding their conversation, she added: “I showed him my gold medal.”
“He commented, ‘You’ll truly understand the significance of this in 20 years, once you’ve retired.’

“He said he watched my race, but who knows? People often claim that, and I find myself thinking, ‘Did you?!’”
Hodgkinson is expected to be a leading contender for this year’s Sports Personality of the Year award.
