RESPLENDENT GREY (2.33 Sandown, nap)

Has made an excellent transition to chasing this season. Olly Murphy’s six-year-old delivered a striking performance, winning by a comfortable five lengths on debut at Uttoxeter in October with impressive jumping. He showcased his ability against tougher competitors at Cheltenham last month. With today’s jockey, Sean Bowen, he traveled well and nearly clinched that Listed prize, but a small mistake at the last was costly in a half-length defeat. This three-mile distance is ideal for him, and there’s still plenty of potential to uncover.

PLANTAROMA (12.35 Sedgefield, nb)

Delivered a solid second in her hurdles debut and appears poised for improvement. She finished behind a strong rival at Chepstow, who subsequently confirmed the form at Haydock on Wednesday. This race doesn’t seem more challenging, and she should claim her first victory.

IRIS DES ISSARDS (2.45 Exeter, treble)

Is likely to excel with the longer distance after a commendable third over two miles at Exeter last month. This soft ground suits her well, and her handicap rating of 107 seems generous. More improvement is anticipated following her return to action.

THE DOYEN CHIEF (1.00 Exeter)

Displayed a strong effort on his chase debut at Market Rasen last time, jumping with ease. He showed his best form over hurdles at this distance, and further rain will not hinder him as he thrives in testing conditions.
