Numerous individuals took to social media to pay their respects to the woman who started her journey as Manchester United’s telephone switchboard operator in 1968, during the era of Sir Matt Busby.

Beckham, who climbed the ranks at Old Trafford and spent over a decade on the first team, delivered a poignant message online.

He recounted how Kath had made a promise to his parents, which she faithfully upheld throughout his time at the club.

On Instagram, beneath a photo of him holding a woman’s hand, he expressed: “Forever in our hearts.”

“The first and last face I would always see was Kath at reception at Old Trafford, ready to hand me my tickets for the game. She embodied Manchester United; everyone recognized Kath and everyone adored her.

“When I relocated to Manchester at 15, Kath assured my mum and dad, ‘I’ll look after your boy, don’t worry,’ and from that first day until my last day with her, that’s precisely what she did ❤️.

“Old Trafford will be lacking your smile as we pass through those doors.

“We love you ❤️.”

Kath appeared in Beckham’s Netflix documentary in 2023.

Her strong ties to various Manchester United players were evident in the outpouring of tributes following her passing.
