The 2024 World Weightlifting Championships is currently taking place in Bahrain, showcasing some of the most formidable athletes in the sport, and the excitement is palpable!
Notable competitors include defending Olympic champions Karlos Nasar, Olivia Reeves, and Rizki Juniansyah, all of whom are making their mark at this prestigious event.

Reeves is particularly focused on concluding an incredible season with a world championship victory after claiming an Olympic gold medal earlier this year.
Nevertheless, she will encounter fierce competition in Bahrain, including six current world record holders from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, with Won Hyon Sim among them.
On the men’s side, Vietnamese athlete Lia Gia Thanh has entered the championships as the top seed after his triumph in the 2023 55kg category.
Also in contention are Italy’s Oscar Reyes, the reigning champion in the 81kg class, and Mir Mostafa Javadi, who is the current 89kg champion, both of whom will be in the limelight.
Regrettably, two of the sport’s biggest stars, Lasha Talakhadze and Li Faban, will not be participating.
