HARRY KANE will NOT achieve success in this season’s German cup after Bayern Munich faced elimination by Bayer Leverkusen last night.
Vincent Kompany’s squad endured a 1-0 loss to the defending champions, with Nathan Tella scoring the decisive goal in the second half.
Kane, 31, was absent from the match after appearing to sustain a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Borussia Dortmund.
Kompany vowed to “approach things differently” without the former Tottenham star available against Leverkusen.
The situation for his team worsened at the 17-minute mark when Manuel Neuer was shown a red card for taking down Jeremie Frimpong after rushing off his line.
Bayern managed to hold out with 10 players for over 50 minutes, but ultimately conceded a goal as former Southampton and Burnley winger Tella scored a header from an impressive delivery by Alex Grimaldo.
Kompany’s team sought an equalizer, but Michael Olise shot wide as time ran out.
However, lacking their top striker, they couldn’t manage to score, and Leverkusen secured a 1-0 victory.
This outcome means Kane will miss the opportunity to contribute to this season’s DFB Pokal, Germany’s domestic cup.
Despite being a leading scorer for the past decade, Kane has yet to claim any major trophies.

During his time at Tottenham, he was a runner-up in the Premier League, Champions League, and was a finalist twice in the League Cup.
Moreover, he experienced defeats in two European Championship finals with England.
‘It felt like the beginning of the end for Harry Kane’ remarks Man Utd legend who expresses concerns for the England captain
Kane joined Bayern in the summer of 2023, hoping to add trophies to his list of achievements.
Unfortunately, things have not gone as expected.
Last season, under Thomas Tuchel, the Bundesliga giants finished in third place.
They were also knocked out of the DFB Pokal by second-tier FC Saarbrucken and were eliminated by eventual champions Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals by a 4-3 aggregate score.
Bayern currently tops the Bundesliga, leading by four points after 12 matches.
Kane has scored 20 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions, adding to the 44 goals he netted last season.
In an update on Kane’s fitness, manager Kompany commented, “There’s a possibility he’ll return to play this year. He will likely miss several matches.”
“You cannot replace him directly. He’s an exceptional player.”
