With this victory, Arsenal narrowed the deficit to seven points behind league leaders Liverpool, who played to a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park.

Mikel Arteta’s team regained the lead through a set-piece when Jurrien Timber scored a precise near-post header in the 54th minute, assisted by Declan Rice.

They increased their lead from another corner kick in the 73rd minute, with William Saliba scoring, though unintentionally.

This defeat marked the first setback for Manchester United during Ruben Amorim’s brief tenure.
