Stellies Forward to Miss Extended Period Due to Injury

Stellenbosch FC has revealed that forward Bradley Mojela will be sidelined for an extended duration due to a recurrence of a knee injury.

The 28-year-old, who transitioned to Stellies from TS Galaxy during the off-season, last played for the club in the MTN8 final in October. He scored an impressive goal in that match but was forced to exit in the 74th minute. Stellies eventually lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates in that contest.

Mojela has been vital for Stellies this season, having scored six goals in nine appearances across all competitions.

“Stellenbosch FC can confirm that striker Lehlogonolo Mojela has successfully undergone surgery to address a recurrence of a pre-existing knee injury,” Stellies announced in a statement on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, the recovery process will keep Mojela out for the majority of the remaining season while the club’s medical and performance teams assist him in ensuring he returns stronger.

“Everyone at the Club is wishing him a swift recovery, and we look forward to his return to the field in due course.”

In Mojela’s absence, Stellies coach Steve Barker will rely on forwards Ashley Cupido, Langelihle Phili, and Devin Titus, who recently netted the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership on Sunday.

Despite Mojela’s injury, Stellies continue to perform strongly, currently holding third place in the Betway Premiership table with 15 points from eight matches. The club is also competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they suffered a loss against Stade Malien in their opening group-stage match.
