ERIK TEN HAG has reportedly emerged as a prominent managerial contender for Bundesliga giant RB Leipzig.
The Dutch manager was dismissed by Manchester United in October following a challenging start to the Premier League season.
After his exit from Old Trafford, Ten Hag has been taking a break from management.
However, he might be poised for a swift return to coaching with RB Leipzig.
As per Patrick Berger from Sky Germany, the 54-year-old is being considered as a potential replacement for Marco Rose, who has recently encountered mounting difficulties.
Leipzig is currently sitting fourth in the Bundesliga, nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
The Red Bulls have yet to claim any points in this season’s Champions League.
Additionally, they have not tasted victory in over a month.
If Rose is let go from Red Bull Arena, Ten Hag is reported to be a leading candidate for the job.
This transition would allow him to reconnect with former rival Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp was named Global Head of Football at Red Bull in October.
This new position, which is set to begin next month, will see the ex-Liverpool manager overseeing the nurturing of young talent, shaping team philosophy, and advising on transfers and coaching appointments.

Ten Hag is not the only candidate under consideration for the RB Leipzig role.
Former Benfica coach Roger Schmidt is also in the running.
Schmidt managed RB Salzburg, also part of the Red Bull group, for two years from 2012 to 2014.
However, the 57-year-old appears reluctant to take on a new role mid-season.
