Silva Clarifies Andreas Pereira’s Exclusion from Fulham Squad After Comments About Desire to Move to Marseille

MARCO SILVA revealed that Andreas Pereira was left out of Fulham’s lineup against Spurs due to a “technical decision” and NOT as a result of comments made in an interview about a potential transfer.

The midfielder Pereira hinted to PL Brasil earlier this week that the prospect of joining Marseille to play under Roberto De Zerbi would be “very cool”.

Despite this, the Brazilian took to social media on Sunday to express his displeasure with the English translation of his comments, labeling it “malicious and inaccurate”.

The former Manchester United midfielder, 28, posted on Instagram: “In the interview, I clearly expressed my happiness and satisfaction with being at Fulham, as well as my gratitude for all that the club and staff have done for me, reiterating that I have two years left on my contract and that I am fully committed to my club.

“However, the article contains statements that are both incorrect and do not accurately reflect my words.

“I am very disappointed by the unprofessional conduct shown in this matter and kindly ask for a retraction of the quotes misattributed to me.”

Pereira had featured as a starter in all 12 of Fulham’s Premier League matches this season before the match on Sunday.

Nevertheless, he was completely omitted from the squad as the Cottagers played to a 1-1 draw against Tottenham, even after goal-scorer Tom Cairney was shown a red card.

Nonetheless, Silva clarified: “(The interview was) not the reason for his absence from the squad. I didn’t read the interview, but I am aware of some of the issues. To read something, I need to ensure it is correctly presented. I

“Do not make my decisions based on interviews, newspapers, or social media. I don’t follow them closely, but I am aware of some discussions.

“He wasn’t ready for the game. It was a technical choice from my perspective.”
