Among those alleged to be masterminding the disturbing plan is Michael’s former bodyguard, identified as Markus F.

Having been part of the Schumacher family’s inner circle for more than eight years, Corinna, Michael’s wife, trusted him as a loyal assistant.

However, their relationship took a turn for the worse this year when Corinna was compelled to let Markus go due to changes in her husband’s care plan.

Sources suggest that this dismissal left him resentful, leading him to create a scheme to extort money from the Schumacher family, as reported by MailOnline.

Markus had access to sensitive information regarding the health and condition of the seven-time champion and allegedly began plotting to disclose this information on the dark web.

Corinna has been striving to maintain her husband’s health privacy since his skiing accident in 2013, at age 55.

Reports claim Markus tried to steal 1,500 confidential files from the Schumacher household.

This sensitive data was reportedly downloaded onto four USB drives and two hard drives shortly before Markus was dismissed from his role.

The stolen materials included photographs, videos, medication documents, and Schumacher’s medical history, as reported by BILD back in July.

After gathering this information, Markus allegedly recruited a longtime friend and local bouncer, Yilmaz T, according to German law enforcement.

Yilmaz reportedly involved his son Daniel L in contacting the Schumacher family and starting the extortion attempts.

Some files were even sent to Markus’ family as a form of evidence via email, as prosecutors noted.

The trio allegedly threatened to auction off the information on the dark web, which could lead to public exposure, as reported by German media.

They reportedly demanded £12 million from Corinna to return the files.

Yilmaz, who had known Markus for over twenty years, was allegedly promised a small payment for his assistance.

On July 4, authorities arrested Markus at his residence in Wülfrath.

Law enforcement also apprehended Yilmaz and his son Daniel L for their roles in the alleged extortion scheme.

Officials reported successfully identifying the alleged extortionists using “technical measures”.

Yilmaz T has been charged with extortion and remains detained.

Daniel L faces charges of aiding and abetting extortion but is currently out on bail.

Markus is also expected to be released on bail.

The trial for these individuals is slated for December in Wuppertal.

Prosecutors seek a minimum prison term of four years for each party if found guilty.

What happened to Michael Schumacher?

MICHAEL Schumacher’s life hung in the balance over a decade ago as medical teams fought for his survival following a catastrophic skiing accident.

The F1 legend sustained severe brain injuries and was placed in a coma for 250 days.

He received top-tier medical treatment, undergoing hours of complex brain surgeries.

In 2013, the retired seven-time world champion and his then 14-year-old son took on the Combe de Saulire ski run at the high-end French resort of Meribel.

Footage from his helmet camera confirmed he was not speeding when his skis hit a hidden rock under the snow.

He flew forward 11.5 feet and collided with a boulder, causing a helmet fracture that required immediate airlifting to a hospital for two life-saving procedures.

For a time, his family was warned to prepare for the worst, with conditions far graver than initially assessed.

At that juncture, medical experts suggested that Schumacher was likely to remain in an induced coma for at least 48 hours while stabilizing.

However, the coma extended for 250 days – surpassing eight months.

When he awoke in June 2014, he was discharged from the hospital and returned home to Lake Geneva for continued recovery.

Since then, Corinna and close friends have successfully maintained near-complete confidentiality regarding his health status.

Only scant information has been made public, including reports that Schumacher might be in a wheelchair but can respond to stimuli.

In 2019, it was reported that Schumacher was set to undergo groundbreaking stem cell therapy aimed at regenerating his nervous system.

Dr. Philippe Menasche, a distinguished French cardiologist who had previously treated him, was slated to conduct the procedure, which involved transplanting cells from his heart to his brain.

After the treatment at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris, it was revealed that he was “conscious”, albeit with minimal additional information circulating about his condition.
