Ming’s highlight clip rapidly gained popularity online, earning her a $50,000 (£39k) performance bonus.
The 115lbs fight was the grand finale of the “Road to UFC” tournament, created to spotlight emerging MMA talent in Asia.
After her triumph, Ming is set to resume her primary career as a doctor.
According to Sixth Tone, Ming was inspired to pursue medicine by her grandparents.
She studied at the Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine, specializing in acupuncture.
On a recent television broadcast from her workspace, she elaborated on her daily duties outside of the octagon.
“Every morning, I work at the hospital,” she explained. “I conduct ward rounds, engage with patients, evaluate their requirements for new prescriptions, and provide treatments like traditional Chinese medicine or acupuncture.”
“I believe only a few of my colleagues at the hospital are aware of my involvement in MMA during my spare time.”

Standing at just 5ft 2in, Ming, nicknamed “The Doctor”—a fitting title in the UFC—demonstrated in her last bout that her power is formidable despite her size.
Following her victory, Ming displayed her sportsmanship during her post-fight interview with Michael Bisping.

“I feel extremely happy, but I also have concerns for my opponent,” she stated. “I hope she is fine. She’s young, and I trust I will be a challenging competitor in the days to come.”
“Best wishes to my future opponent.”
Ming also expressed her desire to follow in the footsteps of fighters like Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan, “highlighting the strength of a new wave of Chinese fighters.”
Interestingly, her parents are still unaware of her rising career in mixed martial arts.
‘THEY WORRY ABOUT ME’
“I don’t think I will share this with them,” she admitted. “My parents have a very traditional mindset, and they always worry about my safety.”
“They see careers as viable only in medicine or law, and they don’t consider other paths. Thus, here I am, making my mark in the UFC, yet I might always come back home after recuperating.”
As Ming’s popularity increases, she may find it difficult to keep this secret from her parents for much longer.
With 35,000 Instagram followers already, along with former two-weight champion Henry Cejudo praising her latest knockout, the pressure may soon mount.
‘YOU’RE A SAVAGE’
He commented on X: “It might be time to inform your parents that you’re a savage!”
Despite balancing two careers, Ming radiates confidence.
She cautioned her division: “Time and again, I have substantiated my knockout capability.”
“I plan to remain a fierce contender ahead. Best wishes to my next opponent.”
