Pirates vs. Gallants Match Rescheduled Due to Scheduling Conflicts

The upcoming Betway Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants, which was scheduled for early next month, has been postponed.

The encounter was set for December 3 at Toyota Stadium, but it will no longer occur due to a congested fixture schedule. This alteration is necessary as it occurs just 48 hours before their match against Stellenbosch FC on December 1 at Orlando Stadium.

According to FIFA regulations, there should be a minimum 72-hour gap between matches; hence, the Gallants fixture has been rescheduled. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will announce a new date for this game soon.

This postponement could provide a significant advantage for Pirates as they prepare to host Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League next Saturday.

Currently, Pirates are leading the Betway Premiership standings with 21 points after seven matches, three points ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns. Both teams are competing in the CAF Champions League group phase. While Sundowns drew their opening match against AS Maniema Union, Pirates secured a 2-1 victory over CR Belouizdad in Algeria.

This away win marked Pirates’ first success in the Champions League group stage since their 3-0 victory against Al Ahly in 2013. That year, Pirates reached the final but were ultimately defeated by the Egyptian giants.
